Interim Sub-Committee on Regional Undersea Mapping (ISCRUM)
The main missions for ISCRUM are to facilitate a closer collaboration with regional mapping efforts and coordinate, as well as encourage, the incorporation of their compilations into GEBCO.
The formation of a new Sub-Committee on Regional Undersea Mapping (SCRUM) was proposed during the twenty-sixth GEBCO Guiding Committee (GC) meeting in Brest 1-2 October, 2009.
In order to build the next generation of improved GEBCO global bathymetric compilations, regional expertise is required and this can only be achieved by fully taking advantage of regional mapping efforts.
The SCRUM idea was adopted by the GC. During the first year following the Brest 2009 meeting an interim subcommittee, ISCRUM, will be active in order to work out the drafted terms of reference as well as evaluate if the draft terms of reference require modifications.
ISCRUM organisation
A chairman for ISCRUM was appointed by the GC during the twenty-sixth GEBCO meeting held in Brest. Following the meeting, a Vice Chairman and an Advisory Panel were appointed to ISCRUM. Representatives from the existing International Bathymetric Chart (IBC) projects will also form a part of the ISCRUM organisation.
