Seabed 2030 Indo-Pacific Ocean Mapping Meeting & Data Sprint

9th – 11th June 2026 |  Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Hosted by the National Hydrographic Centre, Malaysia, the meeting will bring together representatives from hydrographic offices, academic institutions, research organisations, industry, and government agencies to share expertise and strengthen coordination around ocean mapping across the region.

The meeting will also feature a dedicated Seabed 2030 Data Sprint, designed to accelerate contributions to the GEBCO grid.

Schedule

The three-day event will combine regional knowledge exchange with practical collaboration:

Tuesday, 9 June – Plenary (Hybrid)

The meeting will open with a full-day plenary session showcasing ocean mapping activities taking place across the region.

Wednesday, 10 June – Plenary (Hybrid) & Data Sprint (In-person)

The plenary programme will continue in hybrid format, and the Seabed 2030 Data Sprint will begin in person.

Thursday, 11 June – Data Sprint (In-person)

The final day will be dedicated entirely to the Seabed 2030 Data Sprint.

Regional Data Sprint

The Data Sprint is an in-person session designed to accelerate the preparation and integration of bathymetric data.

Participants will work with a variety of tools and processing approaches while preparing metadata and documentation, addressing formatting and interoperability challenges, and learning best practices for data preparation and submission.

Attendees are encouraged to bring datasets they are willing to prepare for eventual integration and contribution. For those without datasets available, datasets and workflows will be provided.

Registration

Deadline for in-person registration is Friday 17th April 2026.

Registration for the event is free. Limited travel support is available to help offset the cost of attendance for some participants who would not otherwise be able to attend in person. Travel support requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis and decisions will be announced on Tuesday 28th April.
