Sub-Committee on Regional Undersea Mapping (SCRUM)
SCRUM's aims are to facilitate a closer collaboration with regional mapping efforts and coordinate, as well as encourage, the incorporation of their compilations into GEBCO.
The formation of a new Sub-Committee on Regional Undersea Mapping (SCRUM) was proposed during the twenty-sixth GEBCO Guiding Committee meeting in 2009.
In order to build the next generation of improved GEBCO global bathymetric compilations, regional expertise is required and this can only be achieved by fully taking advantage of regional mapping efforts.
A chairman for SCRUM was appointed by the GC during the twenty-sixth GEBCO meeting held in Brest. Following the meeting, a Vice Chairman and an Advisory Panel were appointed to SCRUM.
Representatives from the existing International Bathymetric Chart (IBC) projects also form a part of the SCRUM organisation.
